What is HaathMag?
Haath is Hand and Mag is Loom in Hindi
Haathmag is the device (called Loom) used to weave cloth,
which is operated by power of a Hand or Foot.
Current Challenges
There has been a tremendous decline rate in number of weavers per year alone in India.
- Decline rate of ~ 9% per year in number of weavers.

- 78% are Women Weavers
- 22% are Male Weavers
Definitely these numbers go high when measured for the Indian Subcontinent region where the heritage and skills of handlooms still exists and are in great need of support and sustainability.
How was HAATHMAG Born?
HAATHMAG is a vision started by two sisters living across the globe from each other and are trying to make a difference in today’s Fashion Industry. They had a chance to visit rural home based handloom weavers who are significantly skilled in their artisan form of weaving looms.
Due to the current demand of powerloom industries, and decline rate in using the hand woven articles HAATHMAG is been founded to start this initiative by creating artistic approach of making various forms of products made using the handloom cloth/fabric. We work with household women tailors to create our unique products, the designs of which are provided to tailors by HAATHMAG team by working with them on individual products.
